College In Roads at Huntington Learning Center

Last week, we were proud to welcome College In Roads back to the center to provide some very helpful information to parents and students about college admissions, preparation, and funding. With so many students prepping for the SAT and ACT, college prep is a hot topic here. It's our goal to not only help students with their education, but to help their families really prepare for road to college.

Annemarie,Mike, and Nancy were kind enough to spend an evening with our students and their parents. Mike put together a great presentation to help parents understand not only what is needed to get into a good school, but what it will realistically cost.

It was a packed house!

Here are just a few of the very important lessons we learned from College In Roads:
  • Average public university cost - $21,447 per year
  • Average private university cost - $42,224 per year
  • Average elite private university cost - $60,000+ a year
  • SAT/ACT scores make up 45% of the admission decision at a large state university
  • SAT/ACT scores make up 25% of the admission decision at a small private liberal arts college
And much more......

Bee Cave Public Library Fundraiser

Huntington Learning Center was proud to participate in a fundraiser earlier this year with Bee Cave Public Library. For a $25 donation to the Bee Cave Public Library, HLC administered the Huntington SAT Academic Evaluation (value of $195) free of charge at Huntington’s Bee Cave location. Afterwards, parents and students received a summary of their student’s results at a private conference Ms. Sherry Huffman. This helps give both parents and students an idea of where they are testing-wise and what areas will require more attention. It is a great tool to help students really focus and maximize their study efforts.

We are excited to announce that we raised $175 for the library! Sherry personally presented the check to Bee Cave Public Library director, Barbara Hathaway.

We are always happy to work with our community to help more students reach their education goals. We look forward to future fundraisers and activities with our friends and allies in learning at the library!
